We highly recommend that our guests rent a car while on the island.  There are so many beautiful sights to see that would be missed without a rental car.  We have consistently found the best rates with Costco Travel (If you are a Costco member) and Discount Hawaii Car Rental.  Links provided below.

Make your reservation as soon as you book your trip.  There is no cost involved in making a reservation.  Check back regularly as rental prices many times will go down between the time of your booking and your scheduled arrival.  Prices can vary greatly from week to week and month to month.
